Meet the Super Slenth... Darrell !
Divya Anbalagan Class 8 'B'
What Inspires me the Most is …
  1. My mom's hard work and the effort she puts in to do her best in whatever she does.
  2. My father's approach full of confidence and pointing out the mistakes of higher officials, politely, but without getting nervous

TRING! TRING! "Hello", answered tall, blonde Detective Darrell Mitchell. "Hi! Darrell, this is Joe", said her best friend, "I called to ask you if you could come with me to the movies." "No, I'm sorry Joe, not today. There's this lady who's called on me to help her solve her problem, someone's trying to cheat her", said Darrell, "I'm sorry again, Joe". "No probs. - Bye" said Joe. "Bye" said Darrell, ending the conversation. Darrell Mitchell, a girl of eighteen, was always busy serving mysteries during her holidays with her friends Joe and Becky. This time she had been asked for help by Ms.Caroline Cruster, the owner of a very famous magazine, which everyone thought was 'cool.'

She packed her bag and left for Montreal where she would be meeting Ms.Caroline. She entered her office and immediately got the idea of what Ms.Cruster would be, looking at the posh furniture around her. Ms.Cruster entered and told Darrell to take a seat. Darrell sat down and set her eyes on the owner to get a better look at her. She was of medium height, a brunette and had red cheeks like apples. "Hello, I suppose you must be Detective Mitchell", said the owner. "Yes, and you are Ms.Cruster?" asked Darrell. "Please, we all go by first names here," said Caroline. " Well, can you please tell me about the person who is bothering you?" asked Darrell. Then, Caroline took out some papers and showed them to Darrell. This was what was written
PrEpArE TO Die sOoN
This was horrid enough to chill one's bone marrows. As Darrell took this note she noticed that these were not hand written, but were cut from a newspaper. "Do you think there might be any suspects in your office?" asked Darrell, still scanning the paper. "There is this man in my office, David Braganza, and the way he looks at me with such scorn in his stare, that you'll feel you are an insect and he was waiting to squash you", said Caroline with a sudden fright in her voice.
Darrell decided that she'd finish this mystery soon and enjoy the rest of her holidays. First and foremost, she decided that she would track down David Braganza's movements in the office. She noticed that he always had a very sour looking face, never smiling, never happy. She also noticed that he never mingled with the other people in the office. Finally, after a few weeks of sleuthing, Darrell saw David going to a secluded house and locked the door. Darrell followed him and stood outside the door, listening. "Aaaaa..hhh!!!" came a strangled scream from inside and Darrell got petrified.
She had brought with her a tape recorder, in case she got some confession. She was already suspicious about David committing something as far fetched as murdering a person. The scream she had heard inside belonged to a lady and Darrell wondered whether it was Caroline. The door was locked and so Darrell tried the window, which to her immense relief, was open. She quietly popped into a room, which was just a few metres away from David. She peeped to see what was going on and what a sight she saw!!. David's unconscious body was lying on the ground. In front of him, with the expression of utmost triumph on her face, was Caroline with a gun in her hand. Darrell, who was shocked, to see a gun in Caroline's hand, jumped forward to snatch it from her.
"Stop in your tracks!!", screamed Caroline and Darrell stopped. "Why are you doing this?", asked Darrell and softly switched on the recording machine. "It's a long story", started Caroline, "David was very popular with all the office members and soon people stopped paying attention to me and I hated it. I decided to overthrow David. So I wrote nasty letters and named it from him, to make him lose face. And today, I decided to kill him." Caroline was burning with fury when she finished. Darrell watched her for some time. Silence. Then suddenly, Darrell lunged at the gun in Caroline's hand and holding it up to her said, "Don't move Caroline. I won't hurt you. But I am going to call the police. You have put an innocent man's life in danger", said Darrell, with so much contempt in her voice that Caroline began to sob. Darrell called the police, who came to the spot in a few minutes. She handed over the recording tape to them and decided to let them handle Caroline. Luckily for David Braganza, he survived.
"At long last, my holidays are there for me to spend", purred Darrell, relaxed. Just then, the phone rang, "Hello, Darrell! There is a mystery to solve and I need your help!" Here it goes again thought Darrell. "Just when one ends, another starts. Mysteries are always fun to solve, but are tiring".
Well Darrell, we all wish you lots of luck to solve more mysteries, successfully
