Khandala…one
of the most beautiful places in the world. Its
greenery is so pleasant to the eyes that are accustomed
to endless dunes of sand. Indeed, a desert has
its own beauty. However, greenery in different
shades stretching far and wide for miles on end
has a different feel altogether.
|
| The
first time I went there, its beauty awed me. Indeed,
it was Nature at her best and in all her magnificent
glory. We had started out at 6.00 a.m in the morning.
As we went uphill the fog started to thicken. On
either side the breath taking beauty struck me.
On my side were mountains with thin streams of water
cascading down. On my left the scene looked like
an extremely talented artist had painted it there.
A lake with an enchanting island in the middle and
houses surrounding it, miles of greenery in different
shades stretching into mountains, shepherds herding
their flock on the way and a light mist hung over
the place. It looked like a piece of heaven fallen
to earth. |
| As
we continued our drive we saw monkeys jumping around
from tree to tree up to their naughty tricks. By
the time we reached our destination, night had settled
over us. Khandala looks even more beautiful at night
than in the day. The air smelled of flowers that
were growing nearby and the fireflies looked like
torches in mid-air. Since it was the rainy season
the air was quite chilly. We didn't need fans or
air conditioners, since it was quite cool outside. |
| The
next morning we were on our way back to the city.
Since Khandala is famous for its different varieties
of chicki (crushed nuts with melted sugar), we bought
a few packs on our way back. One day in the place
and I was completely in love with it. |
| After
visiting Khandala, I sometimes sit back and think,
in spite of all the technology and the advancement
in science human beings have not yet managed to
surpass the natural beauty of nature. Nature in
all its glory can make everything seem so trivial
and insignificant. |
| Khandala
the perfect place to stay when you want to "get
away from the fast pace of life and if you want
to relax." |
