Televiosn A Boon or Bane?

Is television a new bull in the china shop shattering many of our traditional values and beliefs?
"Television is a vast wasteland" said Newton minnow.
The arrival of such a medium creates potential fear and threats in the minds of people. Many people are worried about the harmful influence of television in future generation. An overdose of violence corrupts the minds of young children.
Continuous viewing of television weakens the eyesight of children. Students get no time to do homework. Children also neglect their studies due to their interest in television. Besides not doing homework they nurture the habit of telling lies. Children often watch scary programmes, which do not allow them sleep. The same skeletons, bones and ghosts haunts them.
It has been seen that children who watch television are ease- loving, rather couch potatoes. Many serials that children watch are far away from the reality of life. As a result when they grow up they find that life is not a bed full of roses, that real life is full of difficulties and problems. When they find themselves unable to cope with the situation they become frustrated.
Violence in most movies corrupts children adversely. Commercial advertisements create a habit of superfluous consumption. Late night movies keep people awake disturbing the peaceful rhythm of life.

Exposure to violence, commercialism, consumerism will only contaminate the minds and morals of people. Do you really need to be are convinced that television is an idiot box, rather a vast wasteland??
