celebrates Indian Republic Day |

In
keeping with tradition, The Indian High School celebrated
India's 59th Republic Day on 26 January '08 with the
same patriotism and enthusiasm that marks the day back
home. More than 2500 students and staff came together
to put up a mini parade reminiscent of the one on Rajpath,
New Delhi.

|
The
programme began with the flag hoisting by the Chief
Guest H.E Venu Rajamony, Consul General of India at
Dubai. This was followed by a guard of honour and march
past made up of the boys and girls of grades 9 and 11,
the academic and sports achievers and for the first
time a squad of I.H.S teaching and non-teaching staff-
office boys and drivers.

More
than 600 boys each of grades 3 & 4 and grades 7&8
and 700 girls of grades 5&6 presented an impressive
floor show that reflected their patriotic spirit. The
boys choir reinforced the mood of the day with their
patriotic songs. As every year, this year too the Chief
Guest and other distinguished guests were requested
to release white pigeons symbolic of the Indian High
School's message of peace to the outside world. Over
the last few years the school has established the practice
of organizing a food fair for charity on this auspicious
national day and this year too the food fair was well
attended by parents, staff and students

The
programme ended with an inspiring Republic Day address
by the Chief Guest to the many Indians on the campus.
H.E Venu Rajamomy also spoke in glowing terms about
the long and close association between the Indian High
School and the Indian Consulate and praised the school
for its whole hearted support to all the programmes
of the Consulate. He quipped ".. if there is any
place I have visited as many times as my own office,
it is the Indian High School
" and that he
rated it "
among the best schools
"
he has seen worldwide.
